Tank Driving Experiences in Hampshire

Filed under: Hampshire Sports Activities — davidmoldon @ 3:41 pm

Driving a Armoured Personnel Carrier or a Chieftain tank around a muddy course is a unique experience that not many people have encountered. But there are now several purpose built off road courses across the country, including some in Hampshire, offering a tank driving experience so that anyone can have a go.

There are several different packages available, but each experience usually lasts approximately two to three hours, depending on which one you choose. You should come prepared to get a bit muddy and wear warm, comfortable clothing and some sturdy boots, waterproofs are also advisable if it looks like wet weather.

During a driving session you will often get the chance to drive several different types of military vehicles, such as Armoured Personnel Carriers, Abbot tanks, Chieftain Main Battle Tanks, Snowcats, Stalwarts, Ferret Scout Cars and even Quad bikes in some cases, to name just a few.

On the day of your activity you will receive a full safety briefing and tuition from experienced and friendly instructors, some of which have served in the Falklands and Gulf Wars, and therefore have some interesting tales to tell.

You will then have the chance to take the wheel yourself and put your new found skills to the test under the supervision of your instructor, who will be there in case you need any assistance during your time in control.

So if you have always wanted to be in control of an armoured vehicle and drive one across an off road course, or have a loved one that has, then a tank driving experience day is perfect for you or the perfect gift for that special someone. Why not give it a go?
